Sturrock Shipping ensures smooth transfer of MLSC cargo

Maputo Liquids Storage Company (MLSC) are owners and operators of a bulk liquids storage facility and Customs Bonded Warehouse located within Maputo Port.
 

MLSC recently received a consignment of 1,000 metric tons of Crude Sunflower Oil which arrived via road tankers from Continental Oil Mills Limited, an oilseed processing company based in Viljoenskroon, South Africa.

This is a transit cargo which is destined to the largesst vegetable oil processing company in Tanzania where the cargo will be refined, bottled and sold as a premium quality cooking oil.

Tanzania is a Southern African Development Community (SADC) country, as is South Africa, and so both companies involved in this trade transaction will benefit from current tax agreements between SADC member nations.
 


Once all the transit Crude Sunflower Oil was received into the MLSC shore tanks, it was surveyed by SGS, and then loaded onto the ocean going bulk tanker vessel "MT Orania".

The vessel had just completed discharging a cargo of Argentine soybean oil into MLSC tanks for Mozambican importers.

"MT Orania" has since left Maputo with the transit cargo on board and is currently en-route to Tanzania.
 
All the transit documentation requirements were handled by Sturrock Shipping. The road transport between Viljoenskroon and Maputo Port was done by Javelin Mozambique, Liquid Bulk and Aqua Bulk.
 


In order for this venture to be possible MLSC had to make some minor modifications to their terminal to enable them to receive transit cargo via road tankers.

It is hoped that this will the first of many such transit cargoes to move through the Port of Maputo via MLSC.
